The Florida Keys are an archipelago just south of Miami, connected by a single-lane highway that takes you on a 3 hours drive to Key West, the westernmost of the inhabited islands.
The islands lie along the Florida Straits, dividing the Atlantic Ocean to the east from the Gulf of Mexico to the northwest, and defining one edge of Florida Bay. At the nearest point, the southern part of Key West is just 140 km from Cuba.
I spent just one short night on Key West. Just enough time to take in some of the caribbean vibes of the area.
